Feels like January was just a week ago doesn’t it? I mean how long ago was it when your birthday seemed so far off? And now, minus the December guys we’ve all had Facebook friends who never bothered suddenly spare enough time to say HBD, GBU, LLNP or some by-force acronym to spite political parties. And now 2016 is 5 weeks away! There is something that happens 5 weeks to year end that I detest passionately and you’ll see why shortly.
We start each year with enough optimism to turn a funeral into a farewell party. We have six key goals that we must achieve and three new habits we must cultivate and one major weakness we must shed off…then when the last quarter creeps up on us like an unexpected breakup we carry forward all our hopes to the next year.
I resent that. I resent that we hide behind our hopes for next year to give up on this one. Next year is coming in weeks so you dier, let me turn everything I haven’t been able to achieve yet into a prayer topic for next year. We remove our gloves and hang up our boots when November starts breathing down our shoulders, but that is just not consistent with all the classic action feems.
Tell me, what’s an action film if the killer kills the blowman or the killer himself dies within the first 30 minutes? It’s only Game of Thrones pe that could kill the most loved character so soon, but even that’s because they had Jon Snow in the offing. My point is, an action movie is more epic when the climactic showdown comes off in the last minutes of the movie. Even with Mortal Kombat and Street fighter, you only meet the 12 handed, 6 eyed monster at the last show. So why is it that you dier, you want to turn 2015’s last show into a 12 hour autobiographical documentary?
See, we serve a ‘killer bewu last show’ God. Remember what he did with the Pharoah when it was time to liberate the Israelites. See how only at the last minute when the Egyptian chariots were closing in, he asked Moses to stretch his rod over the water (Herh! Not to pee!). And then even when the stubborn Egyptians followed into the Red Sea and they had almost finished crossing, then God brought the oceans crushing down on them. Tell me if that isn’t the stuff good action movies are made of!
Or even the David and Goliath tale. The bloody giant had been cussing at the Israelites for weeks when David showed up. It was a last show encounter. Imagine if Moses or David had had a ‘Let’s push it to 2016’ perspective, it won’t have been good kraa. And you are here saying that this project you haven’t touched yet, you’re waiting for 2016 to start afresh…I’ll never buy your action film! It is your kind that inspire Kumawood and Ghallywood movie makers to make 7 parts of a one hour movie.
It really never is too late fam. It never is. Even now as we speak, there’s so much you can do before 31st night. The fact that Secondary Schools and Unis are vacating weeks ahead of 31st doesn’t mean you should do same. I think if 31st night is the edge of a cliff, you should screech to it at 300MPH! You can afford to do that because you serve a ‘killer bewu last show’ God. I bet you’ll be shocked if these last few weeks of the year, you pray and hope like it was January. I bet you’ll be shocked the compounded blessings and testimonies that December alone can bring you.
God’s grace doesn’t take a break or shed load in November and December o. Don’t stop hoping. Don’t stop dreaming. Don’t tone it down. Chase it down till the clock strikes midnight on 31st. And when we are recapping 2015, we’ll all share our ‘killer bewu last show’ stories. Who’s in with me?
