Chasing A Foolish Dream

There’s a price to pay for dreaming big, wanting to count for something and make an impact. There’s a price to pay for craving the extraordinary and asking more of life. The paycheck that satisfies others will only make you snicker. The things that make others content doesn’t even reach your throat. You need to do so much more than the average person does to reach fulfillment. You are not impressed by the things that render most people speechless. You chase the intangibles of impact whilst many pursue the hardness of cash.

Sometimes it feels like something’s wrong with you. Why risk so much, why be so some way? Why not settle for what everyone seems to be settling for? “A man is a man is a man,” they say, “ they’re all alike, but for their lengths, so what are you waiting for? Just settle down!”

You are too picky, you take the fun out of everything. We’re joking when we say “We die finish o” why do you have to take it world cup and declare ‘Minus me and my family?’ what is it with you? Just chill mehn!

But we, we cant chill! Something burns inside of us that won’t let us. We can’t fake satisfaction when we know it can be done better. We cant sit and do nothing for too long. We think of better ways of doing things for so long, we finally just cant sit and do nothing, so we set out to do something, to chase a foolish dream.

In time, if we are lucky, we break free from fear’s grips. We draw strength from the possibility of failure and do that thing we believe in. We ask ourselves; what’s the worst that could happen? Then we answer it, and suddenly we aren’t so scared anymore.

Deep in our hearts we believe in that dream, that passion, that thing that tingles our senses but which others can’t seem to see the point in. It’s so obvious to us, but so obscure to them. How?

We should pursue our dreams, no matter how foolish they are, if there’s even the slightest chance that they could change the world, or make Ghana better. We should accept that we’re different. We can’t be comfortable with the status quo, we were cut out of a different fabric. Rather than try hard to blend in with the normal and mundane, we should do what we were made to do and stand out!

London vision

What if…what if that idea whispering in the recess of our minds could possibly…could possibly change the way people do a certain thing…in Ghana? What if that foolish dream could become…could become the idea that gives Africa a new reference point?

Let’s chase our dreams fam, with the same energy we endure the routine that numbs the energy in our minds. Perhaps we may achieve them and become life transformers, or we could fail…and then learn…and then do better next time. We get that it’s easier said than done, but we were made with the capacity to do, so why just say?

In the coming weeks, I’m going to launch a foolish dream. If this post isn’t enough to get you to breathe life into that amazing idea in the attic, ei sorry, backyard of your mind, maybe seeing me launch my foolish dream will give you the audacity to launch yours and soon, we’ll be the bunch of foolish dream chasers who actually changed the world.

Wait with me. Chase with me. Watch this space. A foolish dream is nearing birth.

PS: Don’t keep! Share…& then subscribe.
